Church of the Most Sacred Heart

The New Ceiling.......

"The suspended ceiling has been removed and also the original ceiling. The roof of the Church has been newly insulated and a new ceiling has been recreated as an exact replica of the original ceiling of the Church.
You can now see the gilded testa, which is the ornate feature over the altar. This was a feature of the original Church but sadly the roof or centre had been removed and disposed of. A specialist firm of artists involved in restoring Churches are undertaking this work and will also refurbish our Stations of the Cross

Below you can see pictures of the work starting with the old ceiling and progressing week by week till completion. These pictures include "hidden scenes" from above the scaffolding taken by your intrepid webmaster :)
