MINUTES OF THE SACRED HEART PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON
THURSDAY 27th NOVEMBER 2003
Father Michael opened the meeting with a prayer.
Those present - as per attendance record.
1. Apologies for absence received from Mr. M.CIark, Mrs. R.King, Mr. J.Ryan,
(Mr.
M.Holmes acted as svp Representative).
2. Minutes of the meeting held on 27th October 2003
The minutes were signed by Mr. C.Frost as a true record.
3. Matters Arising.
Re:3 /4. Still awaiting response from Mr. A.Loughman regarding the fitting
of the
water heater in the kitchen.
Re: I l(iv) Plans for the Reading Phoenix Choir are going ahead..
Re: I l(vii) Mrs. C.Faulkner reported that the Hall is no longer needed
on
Wednesdays for Irish Dancing.
Re:4 Mrs. C.Mills stated that one plug in the hut is possibly not working.
This. will
be investigated. Father Michael asked for a date when the electricians
would be
finished. Mr. C.Frost will investigate.
Re:6 The Christmas Bazaar was successful ,despite attendance being lower,
and
made approximately £2,900.10
Re: 12(v) Following the Planned Giving Drive the collections have increased.
As
well as cheque donations amounting to approximately £1,000. Over
100 Gift Aid
forms have been returned. Mrs. C.Mills commented that Gift Aid is possibly
changing next year - individuals will need to make their own claim.
4. Correspondence Nil
5. Hire of Hesdin Hall
Failure to clean the Hall after a "private let' on two weekends caused
problems for
the Sunday Catechists. Discussions have taken place with the people involved
and
Mr. J.Fahey, Secretary Bee Club, has given assurance that this will not
recur. The
alternative is not to hire the Hall on a Saturday night.
Fr Michael stated that people who hire the Hall should be registered parishioners
and the reason for the hire should be given.
Following discussion it was agreed that
the cleaning should be extended to outside Hesdin Hall
Application for hire should be made via Parish Council.
information will be put in the newsletter.
6. Renew, 'At Your Word. Lord'
The first Season of House Groups is now complete and seem to have been
successful. There will be and evening for House Group Leaders on 3~ February
and a social evening for all involved in 'Renew' on 6 February.
7. Communications.
Mr. P.Hague is in the process of updating the parish leaflets and has
written to organisations regarding any changes
8. Youth Centre.
Mr. M.Lemon reported that after initial problems the garage is now complete,
including electricity. Shelves and storage should be complete by the end
of the year. Re-wiring of the Scout Hut is almost complete.
Weekends repainting has been delayed by the inclement weather.
The next step is double-glazing costing 2,200. A Council Grant is not
available.
9. Churches Together in Ruislip.
End of year session on 'HTV/AIDS will be held at Ickenham Road Methodist
Church on Friday 28th November.
Small Christmas posters will be available for parishioners to display
.Mrs.
C.Wloch asked how many would be required. It was suggested that she negotiates
with Mr. M.Cook as the Knights also produce posters.
A large poster one will l)e available for the Church and information about
Services can be displayed near it.
The Christian week of prayer celebration will take place on Thursday 22nd
January in the Ecumenical Church, Dean Avenue.
The Refugee project needs more investigation. Need to look at what is
being dealt
with now. A poster display to educate people has been proposed.
10. Suggestion Book
The two comments relating to Rosary before Mass and singing at 10.a.m
Mass were discussed. Mr. C.Frost will make a suitable reply.
11. Father Michael asked members present to encourage their groups to
attend the
three Advent Mission evenings being given by a visiting priest.
Various parish organisations are participating in the Carol Service planned
for 21"
December.
The Church Notice board fell down in the recent high winds. It cannot
be repaired
as the wood is rotten. A new one will cost approximately 700.
12. Any Other Business.
Mr. M.Holmes asked, as the Crusader is sent free of charge, whether we
should send a donation?
