MINUTES OF THE SACRED HEART PARISH COUNCIL TUESDAY 18th OCTOBER 2O1I Those present -Father Duncan, Father Stephen, Stefan Karninski, Marian Lally, Anne Rourke, Catherine Wloch, Christine Mills, Ron Burchell, Eileen Bonnar, Peter Hague, Steve Beattie, Martin Cook, Juliette Kerin, , Angela Head. 1 Father Duncan opeened the meeting with a prayer . 2.. Apologies for absence received from Colin Frost, Pat Lobo, Michel Clark. 3. minutes of the meeting held on l3th September 2011 Marian signed the minutes as a correct record... 4. Matters arising from minutes. Re:6. New parishioners event seemed to be successful. It was suggested that this should be repeated in 18 months.. Re5. Parish Jubilee was a very successful event. Father Duncan stated that it was great to see so many priests there. The floral decorations were extremely good. Father Duncan thanked all who had helped. 5. Lifts to Church Angela Head explained that this was one of several issues arising from Caritas. Angela was aware of several people needing lifts, not only to Mass but also to church events. It was suggested utilising the SVP and putting a note in the newsletter. Father Duncan stated that it needed someone to co-ordinate and have a list of people requiring and those willing to give lifts. It was also suggested adding a note regarding lifts when an event was organised. Other issues referred to were :- : someone to listen to people. : Screens in the church for showing Mass (Father Duncan will investigate) Regarding Caritas Martin Cook referred to a request he had received from the London Borough of Hillingdon, sent to various faith groups, for help with winter shelter for the homeless.There is a project meeting at the Civic Centre this Thursday. Martin Cook will obtain more information. 6. Update from Groups Confirmation. Anne Rourke reported that confirmation will be on 28th April 2012. A notice has been put out and applications are coming in. Catechists will be meeting in 2 weeks. CTR Catherine Wloch reported that there was a meeting in September to discuss the future. It was decided to have a smaller programme of events. Good Friday service will continue but there will no longer be Advent or Lent services nr Christian Aid. Eucharistic Ministers. The suggestion of a notice on the lectum is now in place and is helpful. SVP Father Stephen reported that there are 53 on weekly visiting list covered ny 22 members. Ron Burchell has received comments that the Jubilee went very well and comments rvere given to Clement regarding the Servers. Guides. Christine Mills reported that their Harvest collection was sent to the Salvation Army. They are appealing for adult helper and the brownies need a young helper. Scouts. Steve Beattie reported that the Beavers and Cubs are going well but the scouts will close after Christmas due to a lack of a leader. UCM. Julieytte Kerin reported that there will be an enrolment Mass on the 16th November. Knights .Martin Cook reported that a recruitment drive was held in South Ruislip in September and another is planned for Northwood soon. Money from recent quiz has been sent to Vision Aid Overseas. The quiz last Friday raised approximately £100 for Willorv Tree Centre. Communicationa. Peter Hague stated that photos from the Jubilee are now on the web site. First Holy Communion. Marian Lally reported that preparation sessions are well under way. There are 16 catechists this year but they could do with 3 or 4 more. They are grateful for Stefan's help... Father Duncan * Our parish school is 75 years in 2012 and Duay Martyrs will be 50 years old. * The number of Eucharistic Ministers has been increased at 8.30 and 6pm Mass.. * Christmas carol service will be on l8th December. * Advent Penetential Service will be on Thursday 20th December. 7. Any Other Business. 1. New Mass Books have been ordered. 2. Old Year B (usable) will be put out for peole (eg. Readers) to take.. 3. CTS are publishing new Sunday and Weekday Missals. 8. Date of next meeting. This has been changed to Tuesday 6th December
