Hospitals

If you, or a family member, are going into hospital please let us know. It is also important you notify the hospital chaplain as they have no other way of finding out whom the Catholics in hospital are so that they can be visited and receive the sacraments.
Hillingdon Hospital is currently being looked after by Fr. Stan, the parish priest of Harefield. To contact him, please leave a note with your details (name and ward) under the door of the chaplain’s office at the hospital.

APF Promoters

Please collect the Spring APF magazines for distribution from the table in the porch. Thank you – John Wilson.

Mass Intentions

Unless stated explicitly you would like your Mass Intention said in the Sacred Heart Church, it may be passed on to the Divine Word Missionaries who celebrate Masses in their chapel daily and are always grateful to receive intentions.

1st Sunday of Lent

Fr. Mark writes :-“Repent, and believe the Good News.” Lent has begun. It is a serious time, a penitential season – but it doesn’t have to be gloomy. We have Lent to draw closer to God, and there is nothing miserable about that.
Have we decided what we’re going to do for Lent this year? It’s not too late. It helps to write down our resolutions. If we break those resolutions, we don’t give up : say sorry and start afresh. Can we make an extra Mass during
the week, or Stations of the Cross? Have we committed to reading Scripture regularly or some other spiritual reading? What about praying before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament during Exposition (Mon.-Sat.) or joining one of the parish prayer groups? What form is our fasting going to take? Which charities are we going to support? And, of course, every Catholic ought to go to the Sacrament of Confession at this time.
We spend so much time and money caring for our bodies. Let’s make certain our souls are in good shape to greet the Risen Lord at Easter.

Lent Family Fast Day

This Friday, 10 March is the Lent Fast Day when we are asked to fast. Anything we save is given to the poor. Next Sunday at all Masses there will be a retiring collection for CAFOD.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross will take place in the church during Lent every Wednesday immediately after the 10.00 am Mass and every Friday at 7.00 pm.

God our loving Father,
who made us your children
in baptism, pour out on us afresh the gifts of your
Holy Spirit.

Open our ears to
hear your Word,
open our hearts to
you in prayer,
that we may receive
with ever deeper faith the
Bread of Life.

Strengthened through
these gifts
make us signs of
your presence
to the world of today.

Father, hear our
humble prayer
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
