The refurbishment of the parish kitchen is due to begin
on Monday 3rd April and will last three weeks. The kitchen
must be completely cleared by that date. If you are
responsible for items in the kitchen then please put
them into the small room in the Coffee Lounge, marked

Hesdin Hall – Alcohol
Note
The new licensing laws that commenced in November last
year have altered the way in which the Hesdin Hall can
be used where the sale of alcohol is part of the event.
In general, the hall can only acquire permission for
use with the facility to sell alcohol twelve times a
year (Calendar year).
If alcohol is supplied free of charge as may be the
case at a wedding, christening, etc. then this would
not count as one of the twelve. Alcohol cannot be given
away free where the cost of the provision is clearly
in the ticket price or other such ticket.
The Bec Club cannot be used to serve alcohol through
the existing hatches except as one of the twelve provisions
allowed and then only to members and guests of the club.

Fr. Mark writes:-“Unless
a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains but
a single grain, but if it dies it yields a rich harvest. Anyone
who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this
world will keep it for the eternal life.” Jesus reveals
to the Apostles, and to us, the secret of His own life and the
key to living the Christian life. However strange it seems,
however opposed to the ways of the world, it is through dying
to self and in giving for love of others that we find life and
our true selves. It’s something
we’re so often afraid to try. We’re afraid of the
unknown, we’re unwilling to give too much of what we have,
of who we are. But by clinging on to what we have, we fail to
grow – ultimately we die. Lord Jesus, through Your Passion,
Crucifixion and Resurrection show us the way that leads to life
in all its fullness.

Children’s Liturgy
of the Word
Please note the forthcoming dates for the Children's
Liturgy of the Word : 23, 30 April, 14, 21 and 28 May
and 16, and 23 July 2006 at the 10.00 am Mass. If you
have children aged between 4 and 11, they are very welcome
to come along. Please encourage them to get involved.
All they need do is come to the front of church with
the other children at the beginning of Mass.
Easter
On the separate leaflets you will find the times for
all services over Holy Week and Easter. Please note
that some of the Mass times are changed over this period.
The 10.00 and 11.30 am Masses next Sunday, Palm Sunday,
start with the blessing of palms and procession, by
the garages in Green Walk.
Please also take a moment to take one of the Easter
envelopes, and return it with your offering either in
the collection or through the house door. Easter and
Christmas offerings, with stole fees and Mass stipends,
are the way in which our priests are paid.
Sympathy
We offer our sympathy to the families and friends of
Suzanne Horwood, Chris Smyth and Annie Fleming. Please
pray for the repose of their souls as their funerals
are celebrated over the coming week.
God our loving Father,
who made us your children
in baptism, pour out on us afresh the gifts of your
Holy Spirit.
Open our ears to
hear your Word,
open our hearts to
you in prayer,
that we may receive
with ever deeper faith the
Bread of Life.
Strengthened through
these gifts
make us signs of
your presence
to the world of today.
Father, hear our
humble prayer
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
