Rajasthan
Challenge
I would like to thank everyone who supported my recent
Rajasthan Challenge. I raised a total of £ 5442.82
(incl. Gift Aid) for the Cot Death Charity FSID to commemorate
Damian’s 21st birthday and survived the 5 day
trek in India without aching legs, blisters, sunburn
or upset tummy. India is a country of many contrasts
and I would be happy to share my photos and experiences.
Thank you anyone who contributed in any way –
Ann-Maria Loughman.

Fr. Mark writes:-“Christ
is risen, alleluia, alleluia! He is risen indeed, alleluia,
alleluia!” Do we look as if Christ is risen? Is it reflected
in our faces, in our words, our actions? The Resurrection is
the most important event in history. We need to show others
we believe that, that our lives are changed for ever by the
fact. It was joy in the Risen Lord that forced those first disciples
to take the Good News across the known world. Other people will
want to know more about the Resurrection if they see the joy
in our own lives.
And this is news of great joy. A Christian cannot be other than
joyful. Our faith is an Easter faith. Love and life are stronger
than death. And that is something Christ wishes to share with
us. “When Christ is revealed – and He is your life
– you too will be revealed in all your glory with Him.”
Easter Week
Tomorrow, Easter Monday, the church will close after
the morning Mass.
There are no evening Masses on Tuesday or Thursday this
week.
Retiring Collection
At all Masses next weekend there will be an appeal
by the Xaverian Fathers and a retiring collection in
support of their work on the missions. Please be generous
so that others may come to hear the good news of the
Resurrection.
S.V.P.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society are holding an exhibition
of their works in Westminster Cathedral Hall between
11 am and 2 pm on Saturday, 29 April. This is followed
at 2.30 pm by a Mass of Rededication of the SVP celebrated
by the Cardinal. All are welcome to attend.
Migrant Workers’
Mass : 1st May
At 9.45 a.m. on Monday, 1 May the Cardinal will preside
at a ‘Mass for Workers’ at Westminster Cathedral
to celebrate the place of migrant workers in London
parishes. This is a recognition that recently our congregations
been swelled by growing numbers of migrant workers arriving
here in search of work. Many are from Catholic countries,
e.g. Poland, Brazil and the Philippines. These migrant
workers need us to stand alongside them in their need
for justice and pastoral care. The Mass will reflect
the diversity of London’s migrant communities
in the readings and music. The Mass is on a public holiday;
you are very welcome, especially if you have recently
arrived in London.
25th Anniversary
On 23rd May I shall be celebrating my 25th anniversary
as a priest. There will be a Mass of Thanksgiving here
in the Church on Friday 19th May 2006 at 7.30 pm. This
will be followed by a Reception in the Hall and Coffee
Lounge. For this occasion of both thanksgiving and joy,
I would very much like if as many parishioners as possible
would come along and join me in this celebration of
priesthood.
Fr
Michael
God our loving Father,
who made us your children
in baptism, pour out on us afresh the gifts of your
Holy Spirit.
Open our ears to
hear your Word,
open our hearts to
you in prayer,
that we may receive
with ever deeper faith the
Bread of Life.
Strengthened through
these gifts
make us signs of
your presence
to the world of today.
Father, hear our
humble prayer
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
