Most Holy Trinity

Fr. Michael writes:- Today the Church invites us to celebrate the mystery of the Trinity. We begin our prayers and each Sunday Mass with the names of the Father, the Son and the Spirit on our lips. We can only come to this mystery with a childlike love and trust. The more we discover about God, the greater becomes the mystery of his presence and love. As Christians our principal entrance into the mystery of God is the Person of Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. To make our journey to God the Father we
begin with Jesus. In the person of Jesus God has a face, a voice, a love. The Feast of Pentecost reminded us that to understand the truth of God we need to be gifted with the power of the Spirit. So it is the mystery of the Trinity that is at the heart of the Christian life of faith. Which is why we begin everything in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

First Holy Communion

Today we begin our season of First Holy Communion Masses, at 10.00 am and 11.30 am fifteen children will receive Holy Communion today. We pray for them and their families as they take this important step.

Feast of Corpus Christi

Next Thursday, 15th June, is the Feast of Corpus Christi and a Holy day of Obligation. Masses will take place on Wednesday at 8.00 pm and on Thursday at 10.00 am and 8.00 pm. At these Masses all Eucharistic Ministers will be recommissioned for another year. New Eucharistic Ministers commissioned on Thursday evening (15th June).

Parish Talk

We are called to be open to life. Is this true of our society and families where it involves self-sacrifice and self-giving? Humanae Vitae is one of the most controversial areas of Church teaching, but we ought to be open to hearing its beautiful vision of human life. Fr. Anthony Doe will be speaking on “The Call to Discipleship : Nurturing Life” in the Hesdin Hall at
8.00 pm on Tuesday, 13 June. Fr. Anthony is an excellent speaker. He grew up in Ruislip and is a qualified psychotherapist and chaplain to the Kensington Carmel.

Please pray

Please pray for Fr. Agustin who was ordained on Saturday and who will be joining us as a newly ordained priest early in September.

Sympathy

Our sympathy and prayers to the family of Norah Holley who has died. Her body will be received into the Church this Monday at 5.30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday 13th at 2.00 pm.
Our sympathy and prayers to Mary Vecchione and family on the death of Nick. The Funeral Mass for Nick Vecchione will take place next Friday 16th June at 10.00 am and afterwards to Ruislip Crematorium.

APF Promoters

Please collect the APF magazines for distribution from the table in the porch. Thank you – John Wilson.

God our loving Father,
who made us your children
in baptism, pour out on us afresh the gifts of your
Holy Spirit.

Open our ears to
hear your Word,
open our hearts to
you in prayer,
that we may receive
with ever deeper faith the
Bread of Life.

Strengthened through
these gifts
make us signs of
your presence
to the world of today.

Father, hear our
humble prayer
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
