Welcome back to all those who have been away during the month of August. I hope you feel relaxed and refreshed.
In today’s Gospel we hear the story of how Jesus cured a man who was deaf and who had an impediment in his speech. You might say this has no relevance for us, but it has. There are so many important things we are not able to hear, so many things we are not able to say. Let us ask Christ to cure us of our blindness, deafness, dumbness.
Welcome
This weekend we welcome a friend of mine from Spain, Fr. Jordi, who will help with the Masses. We are grateful to him.
Warrender Room
During August the Warrender has been completely rewired; refurbished and decorated. There is cupboard space now for each group using the room. Please keep it tidy.
Also the lower half of the back wall of the Church has been cleaned by volunteers. This is because those who stand at the back of the Church insist on putting their foot on the wall leaving dirty footprints on our freshly painted walls. I hope you won’t mind me asking you to keep your feet off the walls because if you do it at home you will see how dirty your wall will become.
Fr. Agustin Fr. Agustin will arrive on Wednesday next not last week as was in the newsletter. We look forward to his arrival.
Fr. Mark
Fr. Mark, as you know, has now left us. I have arranged for him to return on Sunday 1st October to celebrate 6.00 pm Mass. This will be followed by a reception in the hall. At the back of the Church are lists of foods which you might like to tick if you can bring on the evening. Next weekend at all Masses we will have a retiring collection which we will present to Fr. Mark as a leaving present on the evening of 1st October. Any cheques should be made payable to “Sacred Heart Church”.
Retiring Collection
This weekend at all Masses there is a retiring collection for Racial Justice Sunday which runs the agency called the Catholic Association for Racial Justice.
Novena
Beginning on Tuesday the Diocese has organized a nine day novena of prayer for vocations to the priesthood and for our Bishops, Priests and Deacons. Please take a novena card from the back of the Church and join in the novena from 12th – 20th September.
First Holy Communion / First Reconciliation 2007

Baptism Talks
Baptism Talks take place this Monday (11th September) at 8.00 pm in the Presbytery.
God our loving Father,
who made us your children
in baptism, pour out on us afresh the gifts of your
Holy Spirit.
Open our ears to
hear your Word,
open our hearts to
you in prayer,
that we may receive
with ever deeper faith the
Bread of Life.
Strengthened through
these gifts
make us signs of
your presence
to the world of today.
Father, hear our
humble prayer
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
