It has been brought to our attention that children attending Bishop Ramsay School are being encouraged to receive Holy Communion at School Services. Intercommunion between the Anglican / Roman Catholic Churches is forbidden and you should point this out to your child or your child's teacher, or that when being encouraged to receive Holy Communion to respond politely that as a Roman Catholic this is not permitted. This has recently been discussed by the priests of our Deanery and as Dean, I have written to the Headteacher of the school with these comments.

Fr. Agustin writes: If we had to take today’s gospel literally and cut off all our body members that should lead us to sin, we would all be crippled, blind and lame! But we know that the Lord does not want us to be fundamentalists. Instead he is asking us just as he asked the early Christians to be very radical in our approach to God and in our Christian life. To be radical or fundamentalist are two different things… not to be confused! In the Gospel Christ invites us to be radical in getting rid of all the things
which might block our way to God, in other words, not to allow anything in our own life to be an obstacle in our search for God; not to let anything to stop us from our way to eternal life.
