Bereavement Mass

By the tradition of the Church during the month of November we pray especially for the faithful departed.  The 6 pm Mass next Saturday 11th Nov. will be offered for all our parishioners who have died over the last year.  All family and friends of our recently-deceased parishioners are particularly welcome to this Mass.

Baptism Preparation

There will be a Baptism preparation meeting for parents led by Fr. Agustin on Monday 6th November at 8.00 pm in the Coffee Lounge.

Our Sympathy

Our sympathy to the family of Anthony Almeda whose Funeral took place on Wednesday and to the family of Jack Pick.  The Reception of the Body will take place today (Sunday) at 7.00 pm.  The Funeral Mass takes place tomorrow (Monday) at 10.00 am.

APF Promoters

Please let John Wilson have all outstanding monies collected as soon as possible.  Many thanks.

Baptism

As from January 2007 we will be celebrating Baptism on the last Saturday of the month at 12.30 pm.  This is to meet the requests of a number of people who feel that it would be more convenient on Saturdays for family reasons.  You can of course still choose a Sunday Mass for Baptism.

Parish Pilgrimage

This year’s pilgrims arrived back in the parish last Saturday evening.  We visited Padua; Venice; the Venetian Islands; Verona and Lake Garda.  At each Mass we remembered our parishioners back in Ruislip.  It was a wonderful trip, hopefully enjoyed by all.  Watch out for details of next year’s breathtaking pilgrimage.

28th Sunday of the Year

Fr. Michael writes:  Often the blind see more than those who have sight.  This is not a contradiction.  There are more ways of “seeing” than through the eyes.  In today’s Gospel we meet a man called Bartimaeus.  He had never set eyes on Jesus – he was blind.  Yet he had more faith in Jesus than many of those who saw him.  We can all feel in the dark at times, cut off from that which makes life beautiful, happy and worthwhile.  We find ourselves on the margins of things.  We are no longer useful or wanted.  Without love the world is very dark.
At those times we lose our way and our hope.  We must have courage and the humility to cry out to Christ:-  “Lord that I may see”.

Clocks change

We hope you remembered to put your clock back by one hour.

Welcome

Today we welcome into the Church through Baptism, Maximillian Mordy; Ethan Morgan; Keela Elliott; Eva Singleton; Alisha Casling and Madison Pinto.

Autumn Ceili

Today at the end of each Mass we are selling tickets for our Autumn Ceili which takes place next Saturday 4th November from 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm.  Dancing to “Pigzear”.  Tickets £ 12.50 each including welcome drink and ploughman’s supper.  All proceeds towards the cost of recent refurbishment to the Warrender Room.

Feast of All Saints and Feast of All Souls

Next Wednesday 1st November is the Feast of All Saints and a Holy day of Obligation.  Masses will be as follows:-  Tuesday 31st October at 7.00 pm (Vigil Mass) and
Wednesday 1st November at 10.00 am; 2.00 pm (school) and 8.00 pm.

Thursday 2nd November is the Feast of All Souls.  Masses will be at 10.00 am and 7.00 pm.

Retiring Collection

Next weekend there is a retiring collection for the sick and retired priests of our Diocese.  This collection is held once a year.  The fund was set up in 1979 to ensure that elderly priests receive the care and support that they need.  We have nearly 80 retired priests and last year the Fund spent 50% more than it received in donations and I would ask you to give as much as you can.  Envelopes are available at the back of the Church.  Please return them next weekend.

Confirmation Catechists Meeting

Fr. Agustin will meet with the confirmation catechists on Tuesday 7th November at 7.30 pm in the Coffee Lounge.  Please let him know if you are unable to attend.

Christmas Bazaar – Saturday 2nd December

From this weekend there will be a clipboard in the church foyer for any parishioner wishing to have an estate agent board outside their home to advertise for the parish bazaar.  Raffle tickets will go on sale this weekend.
We are also looking for donations for our Bazaar, if you have any unwanted gifts, books, toys, CDs, DVDs, fancy goods, bric-a-brac and jewellery.  All items should be in a saleable condition (not broken or dirty and items that you would be happy to buy yourself).  There will be bins in the foyer from this weekend onwards.
We will be looking for volunteers to help sort every Friday commencing 3rd Nov.  Thank you.

November Envelopes

During the month of November we will be offering Masses for the Holy Souls.  Envelopes are available at the back of the Church for you to write your list of deceased and to place your offerings for Masses.  These should be returned to the Presbytery before the end of October.

R.C.I.A.

The R.C.I.A. began last Thursday with nine people.  If you know of someone who might be interested in exploring more about the Catholic Faith with a view to becoming a Catholic, then please ask them to contact me.  You might put the question to a husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, neighbour.  God calls each of us to be evangelizers and to introduce others to Christ.  They are not too late.  They can come along next Thursday at 8.00 pm to the presbytery.

Children’s Advent Celebration – Sunday 26th November 2006

This year’s Children’s Advent Celebration takes place on Sunday 26th November from 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm.  Tickets for this event will be on sale after all Masses during the weekend of 4th and 5th November.  The event is open to children of the parish from Reception to Year 6 and tickets will be priced at £ 2.50 per person.
