Fr.Agustin writes: In this Sunday’s Gospel we hear of the miracle at the Wedding Feast in Cana when Jesus turned water into wine. An event which, according to St. John, marks the beginning of Jesus’ public life and his very first miracle, it was “the first of his signs” and therefore a very relevant one as it points out to what Christ had come to accomplish with his death and resurrection: to transform our death into life, our sadness into joy. Wine has been always for Israel the sign of
the Promised Land, the land promised to our ancestors and fulfilled for us in the joy of the Eternal life. Mary has seen that we did not have wine; that we did not have eternal life in us. Not to have wine is not to have the joy of the divine life. Mary as our mother has realised that our life was not a feast as it was meant to be, because sadness and death reigned over us. For this she, “the woman”, the New Eve intercedes for us before her Son, the only one who can change the waters of death into the wine of eternal life, we only have to do “whatever he tells us.”

Arranging a Mass
Parishioners who would like a Mass for their intention on a specific date should arrange it well in advance. We cannot always guarantee a specific date because of funerals, but we will do our best. The first available Sunday Mass is on April 15th and Saturday evening April 21st.
Please state explicitly if you would like your Mass said in the Sacred Heart Church – otherwise we may have to pass it on to the Divine Word Missionaries who celebrate Masses in their chapel daily and are always grateful to receive intentions.
Sunday Group Catechists Meeting
On Monday 22nd January at 7.45 pm there will be a meeting of the Sunday Group Catechists in the Presbytery.
