3rd Sunday of Easter

Fr. Agustin writes: We continue on this third Sunday of Easter the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection.  The announcement of the empty tomb at Easter morning keeps bringing joy and festivity into our lives.  The empty tomb was just the beginning; the first sign that Christ is risen.  However, the Resurrection is a journey; that will take us up to Pentecost and the completion of the Paschal Feast. It is now, in these
these fifty days, that we need to discover that Christ is truly risen for us.  It is the time to connect our lives with Christ’s risen life so that we personally may share in his victory. The Risen Lord comes during these fifty days searching for each one of us, as he searched and appeared to his disciples in the first days of his rising.  He wants to touch our hearts, to recreate us and give us new hope.  In this Easter season may each one of us experience, more and more, God’s power to raise us too.

Many thanks

Many thanks to everyone for their Easter gifts, cards and Easter Offerings.  We are very grateful to you.  Many thanks also to everyone who worked so hard to make the Easter Ceremonies and Church so beautiful – the servers, Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Collectors, Folk Group, Choir and Adrian our organist, flower ladies, sacristans and cleaners.  It was lovely to see the Church full for all of the ceremonies.  Congratulations and welcome to our ten new members received on Holy Saturday night.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday when we thank God for being a God of mercy and forgiveness and who showed this ultimately through his suffering, death and resurrection.

Welcome

A warm welcome to Fr. Paul Allerton who is with us this weekend to preach at all Masses on behalf of the Montfort Missionaries of the Company of Mary.  They were founded by St. Louis Marie de Montfort in the early 18th Century to preach the Gospel wherever the Spirit led them.  Today they carry out their mission in more than 30 countries worldwide, including Malawi, Uganda and Kenya in East Africa.  Please give generously in the retiring collection today.

Welcome to Fr. Martin McPake (SVD) who will celebrate Mass next Thursday at
10.00 am.  There are no evening Masses this coming week.

Fr. Cormac Rigby, R.I.P.

Many thanks to everyone who played a part for Fr. Cormac Rigby’s funeral.  Our guests were most impressed with both the Masses; our Church and the Reception.  Many people worked very hard and I am grateful to you.

Thank you

I would like to say thank you on behalf of Fr. Allerton and the Montfort missionaries for your most generous response to their appeal which came to £ 2770.61.

Welcome

Today we welcome into the Church Sean Wilson Burns through the sacrament of Baptism.

WEEF Retiring Collection

Could I draw to your attention the fact that the annual Westminster Ecclesiastical Education Fund collection takes place next week.  This is particularly important this year as the number of men who are now training for the priesthood at our seminary is at its highest level for 10 years.  This is wonderful news but it is essential that enough money is raised to cover the cost of their training.  It takes six years to train a priest and all the money that you give will be used to fund their formation and their seminary.  So please take an envelope today and return it with your donation next week.

Jubilee Trust

The Jubilee Trust is the Church of the Most Sacred Heart’s own charity set up in 1982 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Parish here in Ruislip.  The aim of the charity is to raise funds that will be used to advance the Christian religion and relieve the poor, the sick and the elderly abroad and at home.  Our Parish charity celebrates its own Silver Jubilee this year and to mark this occasion we will be holding a celebratory mass on Saturday 19th May at 6.00 pm followed by a Gala Supper in Hesdin Hall.
Tickets for the Gala Supper are at the slightly increased price of £ 20.00 which includes a welcome drink, 4 course meal and music for dancing.  There will be the customary raffle and an auction.  Tickets are limited so please book early.  Tickets are available from Ann-Maria Loughman or Patrick Egan  or any Trustee.

Sanctuary Cleaning

Please will the lady who volunteered get in touch with Marjorie ASAP .

Pilgrimage 2007 (Tuesday 18th September – Tuesday 25th September)

This year I have arranged a parish pilgrimage to Turkey in the steps of St. Paul.  We will depart from Heathrow to Istanbul for a 4 star hotel in Istanbul for three nights.  In Istanbul we will visit the Blue Mosque; the monuments of the Hippodrome; the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit; the Topkapi Palace; the 19th century church of St. Anthony of Padua; and the Greek Patriarchate and its Church.  On the 4th day we fly to Izmir on the coast, our base to tour Ephesus where St. Paul caused a riot and the ruined basilica of St. Mary where the Church Council of Ephesus was held in 425 granting Mary the title, Mother of God.  We will take a trip to the Holy House of Mary visited by both Paul VI and John Paul II and Miletus, a city visited by St. Paul.  The cost of this trip for two 4 star hotels inclusive of breakfast and evening meal is £ 729.00 for 30 people; £ 699.00 for 35 people and £ 689.00 for 40 people.  Anyone else interested there are brochures on the porch table and application forms from Fr. Michael.  We have only 4 places left for a full compliment.  Please join us.
