Fr. Agustin writes: Today we welcome the Apostolic Nuncio for Great Britain, His Excellency Archbishop Faustino Sainz Muñoz, who has kindly agreed to come and celebrate with us our Parish Patronal Feast day at the 11.30 am Mass. The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, observed each year on the third Friday after Pentecost, celebrates the great love of God shown to us through the heart of Jesus. This, our parish feast, invites us to contemplate the pierced side of the Lord, the source of all love and mercy:
“Cor Jesu Fons amoris at misericordiae.” Our Lord Jesus Christ, out of love, allowed his heart to be pierced by our sins and it is precisely from that broken heart that our salvation flows. From his wounded side flowed blood and water; the Church and the sacraments. Let us approach with confidence to the open heart of our Lord that we may draw water from the springs of Salvation.
Cardinal Basil Hume, R.I.P.
