Parish Council Meeting

Next Tues. 11th September there is a meeting of the Parish Council at 7.45 pm in the Warrender Room.

U.C.M. Meeting

The next meeting will be on Thurs. 13th September at 8.00 pm in the coffee lounge.  There will be a talk on the orangutan and the plight of the rain forest.  All welcome.

Social for New Parishioners

On Sunday 30th Sept. from 4.00 pm 6.00 pm at Hesdin Hall there will be a Social for parishioners new to the parish in the last couple of years.  It will be an opportunity to meet with fellow new parishioners and a chance to make a few new friends.

The Life in the Spirit Seminars

The seminars began on Friday 7th Sept. at 7.30pm.  If you have been on holiday, or if for any reason you have not filled in a form, please do come along next Friday.  It is a wonderful opportunity for you to improve your relationship with the Lord, both individually and as a parish community. As we are recording all the talks, there will be an opportunity to borrow the recordings at no extra cost.

APF Promoters

Please would the APF promoters collect their magazines from the table in the foyer.  Thank-you.

Planned Giving

If you give regularly to the Parish but are not in the Planned Giving Scheme (weekly envelopes or Bankers Orders), it would be good if you joined.  The Parish is then able to budget more efficiently.  Forms are available at the back of the church.

23rd Sunday of the Year

Fr. Michael writes: Welcome back to all those who have been away during the month of August.  Like myself, I hope you feel relaxed and refreshed.  Most of the Groups and Organisations will be recommencing soon and in so doing let us look around to include more people and ways of revitalising our Groups, so that they are constantly being renewed with fresh blood.

Best wishes

Best wishes to all the new children at the Sacred Heart School who nervously began their school career in the past few days.  Congratulations also to all our young parishioners who received their examination results over the summer and who now begin life either at work or the wider world of college or university.  Please wherever you go, do not forget the importance of your faith, and to thank God for the opportunities you have been given.

Summer Supply Priests

During July and August we were helped here in the parish by two young Spanish priests studying in Rome – Fathers Pablo and David.  They have now returned to Rome grateful of the opportunity to improve their English, but also of the experience of working in a parish.  Both felt warmly welcomed and I am grateful for that.  Both did tremendously well.
Tomorrow Monday 10th, we welcome the third of our summer visiting priests.  He is Fr. Joseph who comes from Korea.  He is studying scripture in Rome and comes to us for three weeks.  We welcome him and hope that he will be happy here in Ruislip.

New Eucharistic Ministers

Next Sunday at 10.00 am Mass we will commission our new Eucharistic Ministers who will begin this important ministry.

Admission to Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in 2008 – 2009

The meeting for prospective parents for children entering the Sacred Heart School will take place this Monday 10th September 2007 at 6.30 pm at the school.  The application forms must be returned to the school by noon on Friday 28th September.
Fr. Agustin and I will sign all forms next Saturday 15th September between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm.  Because of numbers involved I cannot make arrangements to be available at any other time so if you wish your school form to be signed by a priest then Saturday 15th September must be treated as a priority.  Further dates will be given for secondary school applications.

Preparation for First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion 2007/08

Parents of all children starting Year 3 in September 2007, and who belong to this parish, are invited to attend an information and registration meeting at the Hesdin Hall on Monday 17th September 2007 at 8.00 pm.

R.C.I.A.

Have you thought of becoming a Catholic?  Perhaps your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend or neighbour would like to know more about the Catholic faith with a view to joining the Church.  If so please let Fr. Michael know and he will give you more details about the RCIA, which will begin on Thursday 27th September at 8.00 pm in the Presbytery.  You might also like to take a leaflet from the porch table “Thinking of becoming a Catholic” and passing it to a person you know.

Children’s Advent Celebration 2007

The Children’s Advent Celebration this year is scheduled to take place on Sunday 2nd December 2007 between 2 pm and 4 pm in Hesdin Hall.  However, in order for this to go ahead we need some volunteers to help with preparing some of the activities for this event.  No particular artistic temperament is required, we are just looking for willing helpers who can attend two planning meetings, prepare some craft activities and be available for the Advent Celebration day itself.  If you are able to do all or part of this, the first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 19th September at 8 pm in the Coffee Lounge.  Please come along.  If you have any questions in advance of the meeting, please do not hesitate to call either Caroline Murray , Vivian Sheard or Cathy Neville .  Thank you in anticipation of your support and we look forward to seeing you then.

Sacraments

Baptism Parishioners who want to have their children baptised in our parish are asked to attend a Baptismal course.  Parishioners are those who attend our Church regularly.  The next course will be at the beginning of October.  For more information please contact Fr. Agustin or Audrey in the office.
Marriage If you are planning to get married in 2008 either here or abroad, can you please come and register with Fr. Agustin or myself.  You must give 6 months notice so that marriage preparation and all the paper work can be completed.

Sharing in His Life

Do you lead or are planning to lead a small group?  Are you simply interested in learning more about the Eucharist?  If the answer is yes to either of these questions please see the poster in the foyer for your nearest small community deanery session.  Could all small group leaders please pencil 10th November 2007 into their diaries?  More details to follow.
