Fr. Michal writes: Today’s Gospel is the familiar story of the rich man Dives who feasted sumptuously every day and refused to share even the crumbs from his table with Lazarus, the starving beggar. Some people might think that this parable is not addressed to people like you and me. They might protest:- “I am not rich.” But it is not just about money. Even though we may not be rich in material things we still have something that we can share with someone in need. Hence the question we might ask is:-
“Who is sitting outside my ‘gate’… begging, not necessarily for bread, but maybe for a word of recognition, or a bit of companionship, or a little love, or forgiveness…” And the time to share is now.
Confirmation 2008
The parish confirmation programme starts on 8th January 2008 at 7.30 pm with sessions on Tuesday evenings leading up to the celebration of the sacrament in May 2008. If you are in Year 9 or above and wish to join the programme then you are invited to write to Fr. Agustin briefly explaining your reasons for wishing to be confirmed. Your letter should include your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, where you attend school, which Mass you normally attend and a passport size photograph. All letters of application should be received in the presbytery by December 20th 2007 at the latest. Please mark the outside of the envelope: Confirmation 2008.
Secondary School Forms
All secondary school forms will be signed on Saturday 13th October from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Presbytery. Both Fr. Agustin and Fr. Michael will be available at this time. If you need school forms to be signed then please treat this date as a priority. Please think carefully before applying to a non-Catholic school as these years are very formative in a child’s life and the ethos of a Catholic education along with the support of home and parish can be most influential in the development of their Catholic faith. All applicants for secondary schools should make sure they have registered in this parish.

Children’s Advent Celebration 2007
The Children’s Advent Celebration this year is scheduled to take place on Sunday 2nd December between 2-4 pm in Hesdin Hall. However, in order for this to go ahead we need some volunteers to help with preparing some of the activities for this event. No particular artistic temperament is required, we are just looking for willing helpers who can attend two planning meetings, prepare some craft activities and be available for the Advent Celebration day itself. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call either Caroline Murray, Vivienne Sheard or Cathy Neville . Thank you in anticipation of your support and we look forward to seeing you then.
