33rd Sunday of the Year

Fr. Michael writes:

We often wonder why God permits certain things to happen.  Why is it that evil seems to prevail on so many occasions?  Why is it that there is so much suffering – war; genocide; starvation; broken relationships and communities even in our own country?  That is something we will never understand fully in this life.  But Jesus does tell us in the Gospel today that simply being a Christian will involve misunderstanding and persecution in this world.  And yet He is God and His promise is that, ultimately, evil will not prevail.  There
will come a time of judgment and then we hope to hear the words of the Master, “Your endurance will win you your lives.”
