3rd Sunday of the Year

Fr. Michael writes: “The people who lived in darkness have seen a great light.  On those who dwelt in the land and shadow of death a light dawned.”  This is how Matthew saw the coming of Christ and the impact of his mission.  He goes on to say that Christ went around urging people to repent, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God, and curing all kinds of diseases and sicknesses.  And there is still as much need of it as ever, for there are still many who live in darkness and in the shadow of death. As followers of Christ we are all called to be
bearers of his light.  Christ’s light has come into the world.  It is up to us his followers to make sure that the light of his love and compassion shines in the darkness and gloom of the modern world.

YCAP - Young Catholic and Proud

YCAP will meet on Sunday 27th to watch the film Blood Diamond.  Set in Sierra Leona during the civil war, Blood Diamond explores the role of diamond trading in the African civil war of the late 1990s.  The film is the story of a South African mercenary (Leonardo Dicaprio) a fisherman (Djimon Hounsou) and a journalist (Jennifer Connolly) who embark on a dangerous journey to find a rare diamond that the fisherman found when he was taken from his family and enslaved by rebels as a worker in a diamond mine.  If you are between the ages of 13 - 18 (Yr 8-13) come along and join us in the Coffee Lounge from 7.00 to 9.30 pm.

Lenten Alms

Each year we collect Lenten Alms for those both “at home” and “abroad” who are most in need.  Within the diocese the money collected will be for newly arrived migrants in the Diocese.  Most especially the diocese will be supporting the work of the Brothers of St John of God in Euston, and the work of the Sisters of Mercy in the Women at the Well House in Kings Cross working with trafficked women.  Outside the Diocese our Lenten Alms will be for the relief of the poor in Zimbabwe and for a particular project in South Africa.  Please be as generous as you can.

Gallery Seating

If you are using the seating in the gallery please do not permit your children to run about up there as it could be dangerous.
