Church Cleaning

Would the lady who kindly volunteered to help with Church cleaning please get in touch with Marjorie Shaw.

Choir

This year your choir is determined to contribute to the Easter celebrations with our finest singing yet.  But to do this, we need your help.  The men in our parish seem very shy!  We are appealing to all the ladies to nudge their husbands, sons and fathers towards Adrian your organist.  If they have an enthusiasm to learn, Adrian can teach them.  Practice begins next Sunday 24th at 12.30 pm.

Knights of St. Columba Quiz Evening

Will be held on 29th February in the Coffee Lounge at 7.30 pm in aid of the Samaritans.  £ 3.00 per head; please bring your own refreshments.

2nd Sunday of Lent

Fr. Michael writes: In today’s liturgy we celebrate the mystery of Christ’s transfiguration on Mount Tabor.  It was a wonderful experience for the three disciples who witnessed it, so much so that Peter cried out:-  “Lord, it is wonderful for us to be here.”  Transfiguration is not a solitary event in the Gospel but one that happens over and over again.  Throughout his public life Jesus transfigured many people – the broken, the wounded and the wayward.  He called to the deepest part of people and transfigured them by the power of
God’s love, the same power that transfigured Jesus himself.  We can understand transfiguration better when we ask: What would it take to transfigure us?  In our Lenten journey we are all encouraged to ask that question.

Engraving over Main Doors of Church

I hope you have noticed over the main doors of the Church there is some new engraving “O Cor Jesu”.  This means “O Sacred Heart” and is a reminder to all who come through our Church Doors that we are entering into the Sacred Heart where in this case we find hopefully a loving and life giving community.
