Fr. Michael writes: : Jesus did not leave his disciples orphaned or desolate. By their faith they were able to “see” him and through their obedience to his commandments they were drawn into a loving communion with him. Nor does Jesus leave us orphaned. We have the same access to his presence and to the help of the Holy Spirit as the first Christians had. Jesus is not present as a vague memory of a person who lived long ago, but as a real life-giving presence that transforms us. Nowhere do we feel so close to him as when we receive him in the Eucharist. When we receive the Eucharist, we are not just in communication with him, but in communion with him – Holy Communion. It is here, He nourishes our hearts with his love.
Welcome
Today we welcome Fr. Martin McPake SVD, who will celebrate 10.00 am and 11.30 am Masses.
Please help
Francis Manton and David Shetcliffe, two of our young parishioners at the Oratory School are taking part in a month-long school expedition to Bolivia in July. They are raising their own funds to finance the trip and on arrival in La Paz Sorata, they will take part in a community project doing construction and renovation work in a local Catholic orphanage. In addition to washing up and waiting, gardening, babysitting, car-washing and other odd jobs, they are also taking part in a 15 kilometre run on 11th May to raise funds for the expedition. If you would be happy to sponsor them for this event please complete the sponsor form in the bench or from the boys themselves who will be available after each Mass this weekend.
RCIA
The RCIA for the past year is now complete and our seven candidates were received into the Church at Easter. I am now collecting names for a new group to commence in September. If you know of anyone who is interested in joining the RCIA who may wish to explore more about the Catholic faith with a view to becoming a Catholic, a friend, neighbour, husband, wife, then please ask them to contact me.

In order to ensure that our records are up to date and that each server is only rostered when they are available, will all servers please collect a new Altar Server Record Form and return it as soon as possible to the box in the sacristy. Any server who does not return a form by 4th May will be considered to have resigned from serving and will be omitted from future rosters. If you no longer wish to serve please return your cassock and cotta to the sacristy as soon as possible.

London Mayoral and London Assembly Elections
As you know we are all asked to vote on 1st May in the London Mayoral and London Assembly Elections. As Christians it is important we have a voice. The Christian Peoples Alliance and the Christian Party have joined forces to ensure a clear Christian voice in City Hall. The forerunners are Alan Craig; Paula Warren and Rev. George Hargreaves. The Christian party candidate for Hillingdon and Ealing is Mary Boyle. Before voting, do log on to www.theChristianChoice.org.uk so that as Christians we are informed as to the choices we have.
Folk Group
After Easter a few members gave up being part of our folk group. I am using the opportunity to invite new singers and musicians to join thereby expanding the folk group. I know that many young people at school learn various instruments or sing in choirs, so I would like to invite you to come and join us. Whatever the age if you can play an instrument or sing please contact me, Fr. Michael or see Sarah O’Donnell after a Folk Mass on the first or third Sunday of the month. Four new members have already joined so you will not be alone and this will hopefully be a fun experience while at the same time offering your talents to the Church.
