Harrow ASDC

On Monday 12th May at 8.00 pm the Harrow Association of Separated and Divorced Catholics will hold its monthly Get Together at St. Bernard’s Church Hall 17 Mandelville Road, Northolt (near Station), very informal.  New members especially welcome.  Do join us, bring a friend if you wish  www.asdcharrow.org.uk).

Human Fertilisation & Embryology Bill

It is likely that this Bill will reach the House of Commons on the 12th May and the Downing Street petition http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/embryovote calling for free votes has passed the 10,000 mark.  There is still a three line whip for the 3rd reading so do sign before the 13th May.  There is a national lobby of Parliament on May 14th : details in the porch.  If you have not yet sent a postcard to Nick Hurd new cards are in the foyer to protest about the provisions of the Bill.  Adult stem cell research is working - embryo stem cell is unnecessary and unethical.  In the Bill "Saviour Siblings" would have their human rights undermined; 50% human and 50% animal embryos would be allowed and children would be denied the right to know their father.

Fertilisation & Embryology Bill

On 12th May 2008, the day after Pentecost and exactly 2 years since the miraculous defeat at 2nd Reading of the Joffe Bill to legalise euthanasia in this country, Christians of all denominations will come together with faith and humility to pray for the defeat of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Bill.  The Vigil will begin at 2.00 pm on 12th May in Old Palace Yard, opposite St Stephen’s Entrance to the House of Lords, Westminster SW1P 3JY.
We believe in the God of miracles – please pray that the Lord will intervene, delivering us from this Bill and that righteous laws will be upheld in our land.

Pentecost Sunday

Fr. Agustin writes: :  On this Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost, the day the Church commemorates the sending of the Holy Spirit 50 days after the Resurrection.  Today, with this great feast of Pentecost we reach the climax of the Easter Season and welcome the Spirit of the Risen Lord into our lives, the same Spirit that those fearful disciples received and that gave them the courage and strength to go out into the world from their locked room and proclaim Jesus Christ.  That Spirit is given to us, may he
gently descend on us and on the Church.  Let us welcome him with faith and be open to his action that he may help us to live with more love in our hearts - love for God, love for others.  May he help us to show more patience, more kindness, more goodness in our families.  May he make us a more faithful and gentle people.

First Friday Lunches
The Jubilee Trust would like to thank Margaret Banks and her team of helpers for providing the First Friday Lunches over the past eight years.  Margaret took on this role shortly after retiring from work and now feels it is time to hang up her apron.  She would very much like to hand this task over to someone else so that this unique facility that not only provides a value for money lunch, it also provides an opportunity for people to share a meal and raises money for the Jubilee Trust.  So thank you Margaret for all that you and your team have done we very much appreciate it.  While you have been in charge of the kitchen the First Friday lunches have raised in the region of £6000 which has been shared among the various charities the Jubilee Trust supports including the Marian Homes in St Lucia as well as many British based charities.
