Eleventh Sunday of the Year
Fr. Agustin writes: : In today’s Gospel Jesus chooses the apostles as labourers to shepherd the “lost sheep” of Israel. Like the twelve sons of Israel in the Old Testament, Jesus chooses 12 Patriarchs to carry out his mission, establishing the Church as the restored Israel. Apostle means “one who is sent forth” and invested with the authority of the sender. Jesus confers on the apostles his own authority to expel demons and cure sickness and sends them to the surrounding Galilean villages exhorting them to freely give the gift that they themselves have received. Let us rejoice, for God has blessed the Church; the New Israel with an abundance of grace. In the Church we are healed of the power of sin and death by our baptism which mystically unites us with Christ. It is through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick that we find Christ’s healing presence within the Church, both for the body and soul.
Welcome
Today we welcome Fr. John O’Leary, who will celebrate 8.30am and 10.00am Masses.
Congratulations
To Jamie Gary O’Neil and Maria Jane Corkery who were united yesterday here in our church through the Sacrament of Marriage.
With Sympathy
Our sympathy and prayers to the families of Michael Aherne and Dennis Anthony O’Donoghue whose Funeral Masses will take place on Tuesday 17th and Friday 20th at 10:00 am.
Mass for the Sick and Housebound with Anointing of the Sick
On Saturday 21st of June at 2.00 pm there will be a Mass for the sick and housebound, during the Mass there will be an opportunity for the anointing of the sick. Please consider bringing a housebound friend or neighbour to this special annual Mass. Refreshments will be provided afterwards in the Coffee Lounge.
Catechists
I would like to invite all catechists to a session given by our Diocesan Catechist Katie McMasters on Monday 23rd June from 7.30-9.00pm at Hesdin Hall (Coffee Lounge). The aim of this session is:-
- To discover ways to recruit catechists to take part in the various parish programmes
- To consider what skills are needed and to offer practical advice for preparing the learning environment
- To explore ways in which catechists can maintain their enthusiasm
- To help catechists understand the role of discipline
- To think about what tools they need to evaluate all catechistical programmes
I do hope some representatives from all groups of catechists can be present.

Note to Users of Car Park
We are lucky to have a thriving parish community with large numbers attending mass evidenced by our very busy car park. However, during the last two meetings of the parish council, concerns were expressed about the use of the car park before and after mass The following recent examples were given:- a driver reversing a car onto Pembroke road, a driver driving the wrong way down the one-way system in West Way to enter the car park via the exit and double parking on both sides of Pembroke Road. Of course these drivers may be parishioners and/or may not be aware of the one way systems we have in place. However it was felt that it would be appropriate to highlight the concerns about safety and to make all parishioners aware.
Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers
Many thanks to everyone who has donated their Active Kids Vouchers to the 4th Ruislip Windmill Guides. Sainsburys have finished issuing vouchers but our collecting box will remain in the Church porch for the next couple of weeks in case you have not handed them all in. Thank you for your support with them. Christine Mills (Guider)
