14th Sunday of the Year
Fr. Michael writes: : At times we all find life difficult. We become overburdened with problems and worries. We often use these as an excuse for not turning to Christ. In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us to bring all our burdens to him for He is gentle and humble of heart and we will find rest for our souls. He tells us:- “My burden is light”. If we listen to Him, we will not only sweeten our burdens but our whole lives. He will carry us when we are weak. He will calm us when we are troubled and afraid. And he will help us to have a compassionate heart towards others. He will make us want to lighten their burdens where we can.
Welcome
This weekend at all Masses we welcome Dr. Seamus O’Brien who is making an appeal on behalf of “Aid to the Church in Need”. This is a worldwide Catholic charity and we are grateful for his coming here to tell us more about its work.
Baptism Congratulations
Congratulations to those baptised into our Church yesterday – Rhys Liggett, Ellis James De Vere and David Gabor.
With Sympathy
Our sympathy to the family of Stella Fay whose Funeral Mass takes place this Monday 7th July at 10.00am.
Wedding Congratulations
To Daniel Rae and Christina Gough who were married in our Church on Friday.
Retiring Collection
Next weekend at all Masses we have a retiring collection for the Apostleship of The Sea. This is the agency which runs Catholic hostels around our coast for sea men, many of whom are Catholics and have to spend many months away from their families and the practice of their faith. Please be generous.
Cake Sale
Today after 10.00am Mass there is a U.C.M cake sale in the Coffee Lounge, all proceeds of the sale will be donated to Cancer Research.
Folk Group
This Tuesday 8th July from 8.00-9.30pm there will be a meeting for the Folk Group at the Presbytery.
Altar Servers
As usual because so many Servers go on holiday, no rota will be published during August. Will Servers please volunteer to serve on the weekends when they are not away? Blank lists are available in the sacristy. Remember it is your duty to serve whenever you are needed – during August you are always needed! The last rota to be published will be put up on Saturday 12th July and will cover the weekend of 19th and 20th July. The next rota published will be put up on Saturday 30th August and will cover the weekend of 6th and 7th September. |

Any disabled parishioners may use the school car park via the front drive. We look forward to seeing many of you on the evening
Hesdin Hall Key Holders
For insurance purposes we need to know who has a key for Hesdin Hall. If you or your group or organisation do have one or more keys, would you please drop a note or an e-mail to Nicole Burke at the Parish Office. If everybody cooperates, this will hopefully ensure we have a full list of key holders and thus will prevent us from having to install a new lock.
Hesdin Hall Kitchen
Those with food and drink stored in the fridge or cupboards in Hesdin Hall kitchen have requested that other users please respect that these are not for general use and should not be used.
Parish Picnic
This years Parish Picnic takes place on Sunday 20th July from 2.00pm-5.00pm at Eastcote Hockey Club, Kings College Fields. Lots of fun and games for children and adults, all are welcome to come along.
