Fr. Michael writes: The Feast of Christ our King which we celebrate today, brings to an end the Church’s liturgical year. We have travelled a long road since the first Sunday of Advent last year. When we think of an earthly king we think of someone who lords it over his people amid pomp and ceremony. Christ is not like that. Christ has been on that road with us in the joys and sorrows, good and bad, as the companion and strength of our journey. Let us hope as we look back on the year that we have grown to know him better, to love him more and to trust him more deeply so that today we can rejoice at this Eucharist in being able to call him our King.
Youth Sunday
Today is Youth Sunday when we pray for the young people of our parish and youth throughout the world. We pray especially that their faith may be strong and that they always remain close to Christ the King.
Retiring Collection – Catholic Youth Service
Today at all Masses there is a retiring collection for the Catholic Youth Service, the agency in this country which advises the Bishops on youth issues. Please be generous.
