Baptism of Our Lord

Fr. Michael writes: We celebrate today the feast of the Baptism of Our Lord. In the Gospel Jesus Himself receives baptism from John. Today is an opportunity to reflect on what a great gift baptism is. It is not simply a social convention or the opportunity for a party. It transforms the person baptised at the deepest level. Their life is touched by Christ, they can never be the same again. They begin their journey with Christ and as a member of His Church. Baptism is the most important gift we can give a child and helping them to grow in the experience of practising the faith in the parish community. That responsibility is a great responsibility but God is there to help us in that journey.

Welcome
Today we welcome Fr. Casimir Szalaj, SVD who hails from Poland and is looking after the Parish while I am away, and Fr. Stephen Mere, SVD, who will help with Masses today.

Serious about applying or simply toying with the idea? Have questions to ask and want to find out more? If so, you’re welcome to come to St. Paul the Apostle Church, Bradley Road, Wood Green, N22 on Tuesday 3rd February from 7.30pm-9.00pm for a cup of tea, a tour of the Church, and some prayer. There will be a chance to meet others considering the possibility of priesthood, as well as two or three priests who will talk a little about their own experience of priesthood, and about what is involved in becoming a priest. Please contact one of the following priests so we have an idea of numbers attending, Fr. John or Canon Michael (St Paul’s) on 020 8888 2390, Fr.
