Fourth Sunday of Sunday

Fr. Michael writes: When Jesus described himself as the Good Shepherd he told us that we are worth dying for. His love for us involves total commitment of life till the end. “I am the Good Shepherd”, then he gives us the consequence:- “The Good Shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep”. The laying down of his life is not solely in the crucifixion but in the gift of his whole life for us. We are, in fact, the reason for the human existence of Jesus. Today by tradition is also Vocations Day and the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. All of us should reflect on our being called and chosen by God to a particular way of life. It is the day too, when we are asked to pray for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Vocations Sunday
Today there is a retiring collection at all masses for WEEF, the Westminster Ecclesiastical Education Fund, which goes directly to the formation and training of future priests for our Diocese. Envelopes are available if you can gift aid. This is an important collection. Please be generous

Many Congratulations & Prayers
To all the children of our parish who are receiving their First Holy Communion today at 10.00am and 11.30am Masses.

Grateful Thanks
Many thanks to Fr. Peter Stevens who will celebrate 8.30am Mass today as the S.M.A fathers are all away on mission appeals.

Deepest Sympathy
Our sympathy and prayers to the family of Riccardo Vennai whose Funeral Mass takes place this Tuesday 5th May at 10.00am.

Flowers in May
This month of May is by tradition the month in the Church dedicated to Mary. In our Church we have a lovely side chapel and statue of Mary. I would encourage those with gardens and flowers to bring flowers in for our side chapel to Mary during the month of May. Our floral ladies group will keep an eye to make sure they are kept fresh. Some people may prefer to buy some flowers rather than take them from their gardens, but either way it would be lovely if during May our side chapel was decorated with flowers.

First Holy Communions
Next weekend we have again two First Holy Communion Masses at 10.00am and 11.30am. We have around seventy children for First Holy Communion. Please pray for them all as we welcome them to the table of the Lord.

Gift Aid
Many thanks again to all those who have Gift Aided their offering to the Church thereby increasing our annual income, at no cost to themselves, by some £20,000 p.a. An important reminder though; we can ONLY claim the tax rebate if we have a record of payment to the Parish by means of an ENVELOPE, BANKERS ORDER or CHEQUE. Anyone who has Gift Aided their offertory but no longer pays any form of income tax should inform Michael Clark via the Priest's House.
