Altar Servers - 70th Ann Mass on Friday Night
We need at least 10 servers for this Mass and so far have only 3 volunteers. Will others who are able to serve this Mass please put your names on the list in the sacristy TODAY and make sure that they arrive by 7.00pm on Friday evening.

Sacred Heart Church Choir & Folk Group
Do you enjoy singing? Are you afraid to join a choir because you don’t think you’re good enough? Not enough time to make it to practices? Perhaps you’re shy about making a commitment that you might not be able to keep? The Sacred Heart Church Choir is relaxed, informal and immensely enjoyable, but we want even more voices. We lead the congregation every 11.30am Sunday Mass, so why not pop up to the Choir Loft after Mass.

Folk Group
The folk group too is open to new members. If you sing or play an instrument this is a lovely and enjoyable way of participating at Mass. They play on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10.00am. Please speak to Sarah O’Donnell after one of the Masses.

Trinity Sunday

Fr. Michael writes:  The feast of Pentecost that we celebrated last week reminded us that we cannot begin to understand the truth of God unless we are gifted with the power of the Spirit. Even the apostles could not recognise the full truth about the Jesus they knew and loved without the gift of the Spirit. The same is true for us: to understand Jesus we need the Spirit. To reach the Father we need to go via the Son. So it is the mystery of The Trinity that is at the heart of the Christian life. Hence the reason why we begin and end everything in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

With Sadness
With much sadness, I have to announce to you that the Archbishop and Archbishop’s Council have asked me to move to a new appointment in another parish from this September. Next weekend I hope to be in a position to tell you where I am going and who will be coming here as the new Parish Priest of Ruislip. I have grown to love it here very much, and have enjoyed some lovely friendships which I hope will continue, but our lives as priests are such that we have to be willing to move to new pastures when needed. Meanwhile let’s look forward to our 70th Anniversary celebration next weekend, and to the many blessings given to our parish.

Deepest Sympathy
Our sympathy and prayers of the family of Domenico Giovanni Ferrara whose Funeral Mass takes place this Monday 8th June at 10.00am.

Congratulations
To Ryan Fox and Amy Etherington who were married in our Church yesterday, Saturday.

Many Thanks
To all who made our Confirmation Day such a success – to the folk group; altar servers; UCM; the Confirmation catechists and of course our candidates. It really was a lovely occasion and Bishop Alan was very pleased.

70th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass
Next Friday 12th June at 7.30pm we welcome Bishop George Stack and some priests connected with our parish for a Mass of Thanksgiving for the 70th Anniversary of the opening of our present Church which was opened and consecrated on 15th June 1939. Please bring your food into Hesdin Hall any time after 5.30pm but before 6.30pm so that the UCM can prepare the tables. The important thing is that as many people as possible come along to this historic occasion. In the Hall afterwards there will be an exhibition of the history of our parish prepared by Eileen Bowlt and a parish tree giving all the groups and organisations by Angela Gilbey. It should be a very good evening.

Little Sisters of the Poor
Next weekend at all Masses there will be an appeal and retiring collection for the Little Sisters of the Poor. Among their many works they provide homes for the aged, one of which is in our own Diocese. Please give generously next weekend.

RCIA
The RCIA will begin again in September. If you know of someone – husband, wife, friend, neighbour who might be interested in exploring whether God may be calling them to become a Catholic, then please ask them and if so, either you For they should contact me and I will give you further information. The important thing to remember is that we are all called to be evangelizers and to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ

Flowers in June
June is by tradition in the Church the month of the Sacred Heart. During May many people have been most generous in bringing in flowers for the altar and statue of Our Lady. I think it would be very nice to do the same for the Sacred Heart, so that the altar will be full of flowers in thanksgiving to the Sacred Heart for so many blessings. Our floral ladies will be happy to place them in vases.

St. Therese of Lisieux
As you may have read the Relics of St. Therese of Lisieux will be visiting England and Wales in September/October. They will be at the Carmelite Church, Kensington on 11-12 October and Westminster Cathedral from 12-15 October. St. Therese said:- “I will spend my Heaven doing good on earth. She is very much a saint for our time showing us the little way to sanctity. Two useful websites are www.catholicrelics.co.uk and www.therese oflisieux.org. Do try and make an effort to attend one of the venues.
