Sainsburys & Tesco Vouchers
Many thanks to all parishioners who have donated vouchers to the 4th Ruislip Windmill Guides. The number of vouchers collected has helped us to get some good equipment. The scheme for this year has now ended but the box will remain in the porch for another week or so for any last vouchers you may have. Thanks – Christine Mills (Guider)
Eucharistic Ministers/Readers
Please remember to pick up a copy of the new rota from the Sacristy
Sacred Heart Church Choir & Folk Group
Do you enjoy singing? Are you afraid to join a choir because you don’t think you’re good enough? Not enough time to make it to practices? Perhaps you’re shy about making a commitment that you might not be able to keep? The Sacred Heart Church Choir is relaxed, informal and immensely enjoyable, but we want even more voices. We lead the congregation every 11.30am Sunday Mass, so why not pop up to the Choir Loft after Mass.
Folk Group
The folk group too is open to new members. If you sing/play an instrument, this is a lovely way of participating at Mass. They play on the 1st + 3rd Sundays at 10.00am. Please speak to Sarah O’Donnell after one of the Masses.

Parish Priest: Fr. Michael Johnston
Parish Administrator: Nicola Burke
Fr. Michael writes: Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi when we remember the mystery of the Holy Eucharist which Jesus gave to his disciples at the Last Supper. The celebration and worship of the Eucharist enables us to draw near to God’s love and to persevere in that love until we are united with the Lord whom we serve. We should try to understand that in the Holy Eucharist, the Son of God, Jesus Christ comes to meet us and desires to be one with us. When we receive the Body of Christ we are united with him so that his presence strengthens us in holiness. May that presence of the Body and Blood of Jesus always lie at the heart of our parish community and at the heart of our faith.
Many Thanks
To so many of you who have e-mailed and sent some very moving notes to me during the past week. I am now in a position to tell you where I shall be parish priest in September:- St. Francis of Assisi Church, Pottery Lane, London, W11 4NQ. It is the Parish of Notting Hill. As sad as it is to leave, I look forward to this new challenge given to me. The new parish priest of Ruislip will be Fr. Duncan Adamson who is at Marylebone at present and a former parishioner of our parish. He was ordained here in 1989. I know that when the time comes, you will make him very welcome. As the schools finish mid July, I would like to invite you to a Mass and Reception here in the Church on Sunday 19th July at 6.00pm when I will make my official goodbyes. I will leave for holidays on Monday 27th July.
Welcome
Today we welcome Sr. Agnes and Sr. Mary Laticia of the Little Sisters of the Poor who will make an appeal for their work. There will be a retiring collection at the end of all Masses, Please be generous.
Congratulations
To Rachel Keen and Ryan Phillips married in our Church yesterday.
70th Anniversary
Many thanks to all who made the 70th Anniversary of the Church a lovely occasion:- Adrian and the choir; Sarah and the folk group; the altar servers; Readers; Eucharistic Ministers; floral ladies; sacristans; the UCM and all who brought food along for the Reception in the Hall.
Re-commissioning of Eucharistic Ministers
At all Masses this weekend we will re-commission our Eucharistic Ministers for the coming year. Grateful thanks to all of them for their loyalty and commitment to the parish.
Parish Pilgrimage
On Tuesday 52 of us will leave for our parish pilgrimage to the Saints of Tuscany. We promise to pray for the parish while we are away. Would all pilgrims please note the coach should arrive at 5.30am and will depart from the Church at 5.45am sharp.
RCIA
The RCIA will begin again in September. If you know of someone – husband, wife, friend, neighbour who might be interested in exploring whether God may be calling them to become a Catholic, then please ask them and if so, either you or they should contact me and I will give you further information. The important thing to remember is that we are all called to be evangelizers and to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ
Flowers in June
June is by tradition in the Church the month of the Sacred Heart. During May many people have been most generous in bringing in flowers for the altar and statue of Our Lady. I think it would be very nice to do the same for the Sacred Heart, so that the altar will be full of flowers in thanksgiving to the Sacred Heart for so many blessings. Our floral ladies will be happy to place them in vases.
St. Therese of Lisieux
As you may have read the Relics of St. Therese of Lisieux will be visiting England and Wales in September/October. They will be at the Carmelite Church, Kensington on 11-12 October and Westminster Cathedral from 12-15 October. St. Therese said:- “I will spend my Heaven doing good on earth. She is very much a saint for our time showing us the little way to sanctity. Two useful websites are www.catholicrelics.co.uk and www.therese oflisieux.org. Do try and make an effort to attend one of the venues.
