Twenty Third Sunday of the Year

Fr. Duncan writes: Dear Parishioners, Archbishop Vincent Nichols has appointed me as Parish Priest of Most Sacred Heart, Ruislip. This is a parish I knew well for many years, having lived in Ickenham for many years. Twenty years ago I was ordained here in Ruislip by Cardinal Basil Hume. Since then I have been to Yeading, Feltham, Isleworth and Marylebone, where I have been Parish Priest since 1996.
I moved into the parish last Wednesday and am now in the process of getting settled in. My office and sitting room are filled with boxes that need to be unpacked! May I say what an honour it is to come back to the parish of Ruislip, to be part of your lives for the next few years and to build on the work that Fr. Michael Johnston has been doing.
I am looking forward to renewing friendships from the past and getting to know the many people who have moved here since I left and, with God’s help, continue to build on the traditions of the parish as we move into the future together. Please keep me in your prayers. God bless you all, Fr. Duncan.

Racial Justice Collection
Next weekend there will be a retiring collection for Racial Justice. Please give generously.

It is expected that all children who do not attend a Catholic School complete Year 2 at Sunday Group before they undertake sacramental preparation.

The next Baptism Course takes place tomorrow, Monday 7th September. If you wish to attend and have not already booked your place, please contact Nicola Burke in the Parish Office.

Grateful Thanks
Marjorie and Albert Shaw would like to express their gratitude for the prayers, well wishes, kind words and thoughts sent by so many people over the last few months. Marjorie is now at home and recovering well and has been overwhelmed by the kindness shown to her and Albert.

Children's Advent Celebration - Volunteers Required
Do you have an artistic flair or enjoy taking part in creative activities? Would you consider
donating 2 hours or so of your time to help the children of the parish make some Advent related crafts? If so, we need your help please. This year's Children's Advent Celebration will take place in the Hall on Sun 29th November 2009 and the first meeting to prepare for this really worthwhile afternoon is on Tues 22nd Sept at 7:45pm in the Coffee Lounge. Please do come along as no specific experience or qualifications are necessary and it’s a lovely way to meet other active members of the parish. If you are interested in helping out on the day but are unable to attend the first meeting please call either Caroline Murray  or Vivienne Sheard
