Twenty Sixth Sunday of the Year

Fr. Duncan writes:  October begins this week. October is the month of the Holy Rosary, when we are all encouraged to say the Rosary each day. Many of us do this as part of our prayer life. If this is not part of your daily prayer, could I encourage you to begin. Maybe you could start by saying just one decade each day (one Our Father, ten Hail Mary’s and the Glory Be). A good practice is to gather as a family and pray the Rosary together. The Rosary is prayed each morning in our church at 9.30am and again at 7.00pm. During this Year for Priests could we remember our priests and also the seminarians as we pray the Rosary. There are some prayer cards in the porch, which you may find helpful.

CAFOD Harvest Fast Day Collection
“If there’s not enough I’d rather not eat, but I make sure my children do” - Margaret Mueni, Keyna. Just 2 years ago Margaret had a decent job and home, now she lives in a one-room shack and often goes hungry so her children can eat. There are millions of people like Margaret who are being pushed deeper and deeper into poverty, time is running out as they struggle to cope. This Harvest we’re appealing for funds to support millions in urgent need. Your generosity will show the world’s poorest that they’re not alone at this critical time. Next weekend there will be a retiring collection for CAFOD following the savings we’ve made from the Harvest Fast Day on Friday, please give generously.

Induction Mass
On Friday 30th October at 7.00pm we will welcome Bishop Alan Hopes to formally induct Fr. Duncan as Parish Priest in Ruislip. The Mass will be followed by a Reception in Hesdin Hall, food lists will be displayed shortly at the back of the church.

RCIA
If you have expressed an interest in joining the RCIA group for this coming year, the first meeting will take place on Thurs 8th October at 8.00pm in the Presbytery. If you know of someone who might be interested in exploring whether God may be calling them to become a Catholic, then please ask them to contact Nicola in our Parish Office for further details.

Baptism Congratulations
Congratulations to Gabriel and Brooklyn Lee, Lara Lydon, Lily Rose Terry and Harrison Lobo who were baptised into our Church yesterday, Saturday.

For all those requiring secondary school forms to be signed, Fr. Duncan will see prospective parents on Saturday 10th October from 2.00-4.00pm in the Presbytery. Fr. Michael will NOT be returning to sign any school forms.

200 Club
The 200 Club is a monthly prize draw open to all parishioners and their friends and family. Each October we ask for 200 people to join by paying a £15 yearly subscription and they are entered in the monthly draw for cash prizes between £50-£400. This weekend the Jubilee Trust will be available after all Masses to hand out this year’s renewal letters and collect any subscriptions, no individual reminder letters will be sent to existing members this year.

Altar Servers Final Reminder
VERY LAST CHANCE. A list of current servers who have NOT returned a new form is on the Servers’ board in the porch and foyer. If your name is on this list you have not completed and returned a new Altar Server Information Sheet and you need to do so TODAY. Don’t take it home to bring back next week, fill it in now and leave it in the box in the sacristy. If you do not return a form today we will understand that you no longer wish to serve and YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM FUTURE ROTAS.

Parish Christmas Fayre
Saturday 5th December is the date for the 2009 Christmas Fayre. The Fayre is our largest fundraiser and last year we raised just over £7,000 towards the general refurbishment and upkeep of the parish and is our best achievement to date. But this event would not be so successful without you, the parishioners help and support. We are currently looking for top prizes for our Grand Prize draw and to start us off our 1st prize is £250 cash. If you, your company or friends can donate a top prize we would be delighted as the Grand Prize Draw ticket sales generate about 20% of the money raised. If you can help please contact the Presbytery or Susan O'Brien as soon as possible as tickets will be printed in the next few weeks.

Jubilee Trust Quiz Night
Our scheduled quiz night will now be held on 23rd October at 8.00pm. This will be a table quiz with a maximum of 8 people per table and tickets are £5.00 per person. Tables can be made up on the night so don’t be put off if you want to come on your own. Bring your own drinks and/or nibbles. Individual prizes for the winning table and a raffle.
