Pilgrimage to Walsingham

Mass in Support of Migrant Workers
There will be a Mass in support of migrant workers in London, at Westminster Cathedral on Monday 3rd May at 10.30am. This Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Vincent Nichols, Bishop Patrick Lynch, Auxiliary in Southwark and Bishop Thomas McMahon of Brentwood. The Mass will include a range of readings and music reflecting the individual community’s ethnic traditions. Details are on the notice in the porch.

Fr. Duncan writes: Dear Parishioners, Last Sunday, we celebrated the joy of the risen Christ with a great number of people at all our Masses over Easter.
I am very grateful to all those who worked so hard to prepare our church for Easter and to all those who were involved in the various services for Holy Week, the Easter Triduum and Easter. They truly were prayerful and fruitful celebrations for all in our parish.
Thank you very much for your generosity in the Easter Collection last weekend and also for the cards and gifts I received. May the blessings of the Risen Christ come down upon you all.
This Sunday, the Octave of Easter, is also called Divine Mercy Sunday when we are called to focus on the mercy and love God has for each one of us. The message of Divine Mercy is a reminder of what the Church has always taught: that God is merciful and forgiving and that we, too, must show mercy and forgiveness. Today we come to asking God’s forgiveness for our sins and his grace to help us avoid temptations in the future. Divine Mercy Sunday points us to the merciful love of God that lies behind the entire Paschal Mystery – the mystery of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ – made present for us in the Eucharist. The new offertory envelopes should be used from this weekend. A final reminder, if you did not collect your box please take it today or if you did not receive a box and would like one, please contact the Parish Office. All uncollected boxes will be removed from the porch after this weekend.

Mothers Prayer Meetings
We are an informal group of mothers who meet monthly, usually the second Sunday of the month, to offer prayers for our children. Our next meeting is today, Sunday 11th April from 4.00-5.00pm followed by tea and coffee. All are welcome. For further details please see leaflet in the porch.
Site Manager Vacancy – Sacred Heart School, 8.30am-4.15pm
Due to the impending retirement of the present school keeper, the Governing Body wish to appoint a new Site Manager to work alongside the school keeper for a year before taking on overall responsibility in May 2011. The post will be upgraded with more responsibility to Grade 6 at this time, with a change of hours. The person appointed should be prepared to undertake relevant training courses funded by the School to enable them to undertake Health & Safety and maintenance requirements of the post. If you are interested in this post please contact Mrs O’Sullivan at the school on 01895 633240 for a full job description and application form. Visits to the school are most welcome.
