Parish Priest: Fr. Duncan M Adamson
Parish Administrator: Nicola Burke
Fr. Duncan writes: This Sunday is the first of our Parish First Communion Sundays. At the 10.00am and 11.30am Masses 42 of our younger parishioners will be receiving Jesus for the first time in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Please pray for them, their parents and catechists as they complete their preparations for these special days.
Another 27 children will be receiving Jesus for the first time in the Sacrament of the Eucharist next Sunday at the 10.00am and 11.30am Masses.
I am particularly grateful to Mrs Sandra Mace and Mrs Jeanette Butler and their teams of catechists, who have been teaching the children and have prepared them for these special days.
I am very grateful to all those who prepared the Confirmation Candidates for their Mass of Enrolment last Saturday. It was a truly prayerful celebration. Let us keep the candidates, their parents and their Catechists in our prayers as they take this next step on their journey of faith and prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Priest Training Fund
Thank you for helping the Priest Training Fund. Last weekend this parish raised £2511.68. This is the total so far and all of this money will be used to fund the preparation of men for the priesthood and their seminary. If you have not yet made a donation, please give as much as you can. You will find envelopes at the back of the church. You can also see a short film about the work of the Priest Training Fund and make a donation online by visiting www.rcdow.org.uk.
Special Prayers in May
In their statement of child abuse, the Bishops have asked that in each parish there should be a period of prayer on each of the four Fridays of May asking for ‘healing, forgiveness and renewed dedication.’ We will have some prayers as we begin the period of Exposition on Friday mornings. On Friday evenings there will be prayers added at the evening Mass. If you cannot join us in church, please keep these intentions in your prayers on the Fridays of May.

Flowers in May
May is by tradition the month in the Church dedicated to Mary. In our Church we have a lovely side chapel and statue of Mary. I would like to invite those with gardens and flowers to bring flowers in for our side chapel to Mary during the month of May. Our floral ladies group will keep an eye to make sure they are kept fresh. Some people may prefer to buy some flowers rather than take them from their gardens, but either way it would be lovely if during May our side chapel was decorated with flowers.
