We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

13th Sunday of the Year

Fr. Duncan writes: Next Saturday we will welcome Bishop Alan Hopes to our parish. He is coming to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Forty-seven of our young people will be receiving this sacrament. Please keep them, their parents and sponsors in your prayers. I am particularly grateful to Rita Smith and her team of catechists who have been working hard to prepare our young people for this special day. Please keep them all in your prayers.
Please note there will be no Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and no Confessions next Saturday morning. Evening Confession will be from 5.00-5.30pm.

A Warm Welcome Back
To Fr. Daniel Palau who is our supply priest for the summer, Daniel spent last summer in our parish and we look forward to having him here again this year. Also a huge welcome back to Fr. Stephen who has been in Australia, Fr. Stephen will be the Assistant Priest in our parish and will hopefully be with us for some time.

St. Edmund Campion Relic
Next Thursday 1st July, the Relic of St Edmund Campion will be brought to our church. Each year the Relic of St Edmund Campion is brought from Lyford Grange, near Wantage, where St Edmund was arrested and brought on pilgrimage to Tyburn where he was executed. This pilgrimage is organised each year by the Knights of St Columba and the relic comes to various churches on route to Tyburn Convent. We have the honour of receiving the relic here in our parish. There will be an extra Mass on Thursday evening at 8.00pm. At the end of each Mass there will be the opportunity to venerate the relic.

Retiring Collection
This weekend there will be a retiring collection for Peter’s Pence. This collection is a worldwide collection which goes towards the running costs of the Vatican and its various offices.

Parish Census
We are in the process of updating our parish records. There are Parish Census Forms on the table in the porch, if you have not already done so, please take this form, complete it and return to the box. It is important that each family completes a new form in order that we can update our records here in the parish. These records are referred to when completing references, school application forms, passports etc, so it is vital that the information held here is correct and up to date. Even if you know you are already registered with the parish, please take a new form. Thank you to all those who have already completed and returned their forms.

Baptism Congratulations
Congratulations to George Fox, Ethan and Zenel Pavedja, Lucy Cremin and Caelia Gell who were all baptised into our Church yesterday, Saturday.

Catechists – First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
Here in Ruislip, we are very lucky to have a wonderful group of Catechists who over the last 10 years have prepared our children to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We are now actively seeking new people to join the team and become catechists - maybe you would be interested in finding out more about this very special ministry? It is so rewarding to work with the children and see their faith and understanding grow. It is also a great way to meet new people and contribute to the life of the parish. The sessions take place on Sun mornings 11.15am-12.15pm from Oct to May, term time only. Full training will be provided by the diocese.  If you are interested please give your name and details to Sandra Mace  or Nicola Burke nicolaburke@rcdow.org.uk and we will arrange a meeting in early September.

Garden Party - A garden party is being held at 6 North Drive, Ruislip on Saturday 7th August from 2.30pm-5.00pm. Please come along and enjoy teas, home-made cakes and a raffle, all in aid of the Alzheimers Society. Admission by minimum donation of £1.00

Knights of St Columba
On Friday 18th. June, KSC Ruislip Council 330 staged a race night in order to raise funds towards the CAFOD appeal for those affected by the Haiti earthquake. Although it was sparsely attended, it proved to be much more fun than the England football match being played at the same time! In spite of the turnout,  the evening went very well, and made a very gratifying profit of £200, which can now be sent on to help those whose lives and livelihoods were devastated. The Knights would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who showed such open-handed generosity on the night and also who supported us by buying horses and sponsoring races beforehand.
