If you are planning to get married this year either here or abroad, please can you come and register with Fr. Duncan. Six months notice is needed so that marriage preparation/paperwork can be completed.

Pigeon Holes
Have you checked the A-Z rack in the porch lately? There are a number of letters in the pigeon holes which have not been collected. Please take the time to check after Mass as all old correspondence will be removed if not picked up within the next week.

Job Opportunity at CAFOD Westminster
CAFOD is seeking to recruit a Diocesan Office with strong IT and administration skills. Applicants should have excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience of working with volunteers desirable. For further information please log onto www.cafod.org.uk/jobs, closing date 12th February.

Going into Hospital
A reminder, it is important, if you go into hospital that you tell the nurses that you are a Roman Catholic and would like a visit from the Roman Catholic Chaplain. It is also helpful to let us know in the parish as well, so we can try to visit you.

A thought ……..
When travelling around, if I see a Catholic Church that is open I usually go in to say a prayer. If there is a newsletter I bring it away to see what is going on in other parishes. The other week I picked up a newsletter and in it the Parish Priest wrote;
‘Before Mass we talk to God, after Mass we talk to our friends’.

Keeping the Church Tidy
As a great kindness to those people who clean the church, please return your hymn books, mass books and newsletters to the shelves on leaving the church after Mass. Thank you.

3rd Sunday of The Year

Fr. Duncan writes:Dear Parishioners, this week our ‘special children’, those who are preparing to receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time begin their new term. They are now focusing on the great Sacrament of the Eucharist, God’s greatest gift to us. Thank you to all those parents that came to the meeting last Monday evening. I hope you found the evening useful, not only in enabling you to help your children, but also for your own faith development. Occasions like this enable us to look again at certain aspects of our faith and deepen our awareness of Christ’s presence in our lives.
Please keep these children, their families and their catechists in your prayers over the next few months as they prepare for this Sacrament.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Would you like to come on pilgrimage to Lourdes with us this year? We shall be joining with the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in July (22nd to 28th). This year’s brochure arrived the other day. I have put a copy on the notice board in the porch, with the details of the hotels and prices. We will have a meeting on Monday 30th January at 7.00pm in the Coffee Lounge to look at the various options available. Please think about the pilgrimage, talk about the pilgrimage and pray about the pilgrimage. For more information, have a word with Fr Duncan.
