Parish Priest: Fr. Duncan M Adamson
Parish Administrator: Nicola Burke
Fr. Duncan writes:Dear Parishioners, This Sunday is Education Sunday, a day on which we give thanks for the work of those engaged in Education in the Church. The work of our Catholic Schools will immediately come to mind today. We give thanks for the excellence of our Parish Schools. We think of the teachers in all our Catholic Schools, all the support staff and the Governors. It is also important to remember the enormous involvement of people in adult education and catechesis for children in parishes. We give thanks to God for catechists who work in our parish preparing the children for the sacraments of Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation and also those who work with the adults on the RCIA programme.
A final thought, as today, we also remember all parents who are the first educators of their children in the ways of faith, we pray that they may be the best of teachers by the example they give to their children.

Catholic Education
This weekend at all Masses there will be a retiring collection for the Catholic Education Service, the body which advises the Bishops on issues and matters of education. Please give generously.
Wedding Blessing
Congratulations to Kevin and Angela Baker who were married in America before Christmas and received a blessing in our Church yesterday, Saturday.
Pilgrimage to Lourdes
We had a very good meeting last Monday. If there are any other people who would you like to come on pilgrimage to Lourdes with us this year, please have a word with Fr Duncan. We shall be joining with the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in July (22nd to 28th). This year’s brochure is on the notice board in the porch, with the details of the hotels and prices. Please think about the pilgrimage, talk about the pilgrimage and pray about the pilgrimage.
I also have information regarding a pilgrimage to the 50th International Eucharistic Congress which takes place in Dublin from 13th to 18th June. The pilgrimage will be led by Archbishop Vincent Nichols. If you would like further information, please have a word with Fr Duncan.
I am awaiting information regarding the Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and the possibility of a Parish Pilgrimage to Rome in October.
Confirmation Enrolment Masses
Confirmation candidates and their parents are reminded of the two Confirmation Enrolment Masses next Saturday 11th and Saturday 18th February at 6.00pm. Please keep our Confirmation candidates, their families and catechists in your prayers as they prepare for this important Sacrament. Jubilee Trust 200 Club Results
The draws were delayed towards the end of the year as we wanted to give as many parishioners the opportunity to take part. The results of the draws carried out with all participants included are: October - Mrs L, Meadow Way, £50. November - Mrs S, Park Avenue, £50. December – BC, King Edwards Road, £300. January – MW, Acacia Avenue £50.
PA System
The amplifier serving the speakers in the porch and foyer failed last week. When the engineer came to look at the system, he could not fix it here and so it had to be returned to the workshop. Further investigation has revealed that the amplifier cannot be repaired and so we will need to have a new one fitted. This has now been ordered and will be installed in the coming week. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon.
