Jubilee Trust
There is a Quiz Night on Saturday 10th May at 7.30 pm. Tickets available soon.

I have received a plea for help from Fr. John O’Leary whose home is here in this parish and who was ordained in this Church in 1992. Fr. John is Parish Priest of Shepherd’s Bush and is undertaking restoration of the Church there. He needs
£ 150 000 and is doing a sponsored wing walk on a plane on 20th May. Should you like to help him, some sponsor forms are available on the table in the foyer.

Easter Leaflets
Thank you to all those parishioners who can spare some time to deliver the Easter Leaflets to the households of Ruislip. These leaflets encourage the reader to find out more about the meaning of Easter by attending one of the local churches. The leaflets are on the table in the foyer organized in bundles for each road.

Palm Sunday

Fr. Michael writes:- Palm Sunday inaugurates Holy Week. On this day the Church celebrates Christ’s entrance into Jerusalem to accomplish the Paschal mystery. Of all the weeks in the year Holy Week is the one most revered by Christians. The Church, in celebrating the passion, death and resurrection of Christ, sanctifies and renews herself. The ceremonies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday are, in fact, one ceremony divided into three parts. May I encourage everyone in our parish to come along to the three days and to participate as fully as possible in the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus.

Please take a green leaflet for the Holy Week and Easter Services. I give below the times of the main services.
Monday: 10.00 am Mass
8.00 pm Penitential Celebration
Tuesday: 10.00 am Mass
12 noon Chrism Mass at the Cathedral
Wednesday: 10.00 am Mass
Thursday: 11.00 am Reconciliation Service and Confessions for children.
8.00 pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper
Friday 9.30 am Children’s Stations of the Cross
11.00 am Ecumenical Service – at St. Martin of Tours C. of E., Ruislip
3.00 pm Celebration of the Lord’s Passion
7.00 pm Stations of the Cross
Saturday 8.00 pm Easter Vigil
Sunday 8.30 am, 10.00 am, 11.30 am (no evening Mass)

Easter Envelopes are available again this weekend. These are for your gifts to the priests of the parish and if you are away you may wish to drop them in during the week before.
In the foyer is a clipboard for which I am looking for 5 more young people (aged 18 – 40) who will have their feet washed at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper next Thursday night at 8.00 pm.

Baptism Preparation

For your diary, the next evening for parents who are arranging for a child to be baptised will take place on Monday 12th May at 8.00 pm in the Presbytery.

Planned Giving Envelopes

There are still boxes not collected. Please make sure to collect yours from the foyer.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes

A reminder that I have provisionally booked a parish pilgrimage to Lourdes from Friday 19th September to Friday 26th September.
The cost is £455 per person and £20 insurance. This includes full board accommodation at the Hotel Mediteranee which is an excellent hotel, and is on the basis of two sharing.
Places are still available but deposits and forms should be submitted to me by the 14th April, which is tomorrow, Monday.

For you Diary

At the masses on Sunday 18th May there will be a retiring collection for the Jubilee Trust. This is to foster the work of the sisters who run the Marian Homes for Children in St. Lucia.
The 6.00 pm Mass on Sunday 18th May will be an International Mass to which we will welcome all the Comboni seminarians who will provide the music. This Mass should not be missed. As many parents and children from other parts of the world should wear their national costumes. Perhaps there are some people who might provide some entertainment, i.e. national songs, or dances in the hall afterwards. Please let me know.
I would also like to hear from different groups who might like to provide some food from around the world. Please let me know or sign up at the back of the Church. In my previous parish this was one of the great events in our calendar.
I hope that it can be for Ruislip.

Our sympathy to the family of Victor Zanellotti whose Funeral Mass takes place this Monday at 10.00 am.

Have a good and prayerful Holy Week.

Fr Michael

Holy Communion under both kinds

Many thanks to everyone for co-operating by coming up the central aisle to receive the host and then to the side aisles for the Precious Blood. This is an opportunity to participate in the Eucharist in all its fullness. I do encourage you to receive the Precious Blood.

Churches together in Ruislip invite you to their United Good Friday Service at St. Martin’s Church on 18th April at 11 am. Everyone is welcome to come along.
