13th Sunday
of the Year
Fr. Michael writes:-::
Today’s Gospel begins with the announcement that Jesus
turned his face resolutely towards Jerusalem. He knew well what
awaited him there: rejection, betrayal, and death. But for him
there was no turning back. His Father had given him the task
of bringing the Good News of salvation to his brothers and sisters.
He would carry out that task, and his Father would help him
to be faithful. He was convinced that there was light at the
end of the tunnel – his shameful death would lead to the
triumph of his resurrection.
What would have happened if Jesus had turned back, if he had
opted out when he saw where the path was leading? In his hands
he carried all our hopes and dreams. If he had quit then our
hopes would have gone up in smoke.
Congratulations again this week to all the children from our
parish who will receive Holy Communion for the first time at
11.30 am Mass today.
A special word of thanks to all those involved in the preparation
of our children for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
Have a good week.
Fr Michael
| Welcome
On Wednesday we welcome to our parish Fr. Juan Alberto
Angos Velaquez who hails from Mexico and is studying
in Rome. He will stay and work in our parish until the
end of August while hopefully improving his English.
Next Sunday at 11.30 am Mass we welcome the Catenian
Circle for their Annual Mass.

Please return the envelope with your offering for next

Italian Supper
Evening
The Jubilee Trust are holding an Italian Supper Evening
on Saturday 10th July in Hesdin Hall from 8 pm –
midnight. Tickets, which cost £ 12.50 and include
a welcome drink, a three course Italian Supper and entertainment
are on sale now. Please contact
Hesdin Hall
In our parish kitchen in Hesdin Hall we have very little
equipment i.e. dinner plates; side plates; cutlery etc.
etc. I would really like to buy about 100 of everything
for parish events but it would be rather costly. I wonder
if there are any parishioners with links to hotels,
restaurants that might be updating equipment and give
us or sell cheaply such items in bulk. I would be grateful
to hear from you if you think you may be able to help.
