Have you thought of becoming a Catholic? Perhaps your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend or neighbour would like to know more about the Catholic faith with a view to joining the Church. If so please let Fr. Michael know and he will give you more details about the RCIA, which will begin in October. You might also like to take a leaflet from the porch table “Thinking of becoming a Catholic” and passing it to a person you know.

13th Sunday of the Year

Fr. Michael writes:-:: Today’s Gospel begins with the announcement that Jesus turned his face resolutely towards Jerusalem. He knew well what awaited him there: rejection, betrayal, and death. But for him there was no turning back. His Father had given him the task of bringing the Good News of salvation to his brothers and sisters. He would carry out that task, and his Father would help him to be faithful. He was convinced that there was light at the end of the tunnel – his shameful death would lead to the triumph of his resurrection.

What would have happened if Jesus had turned back, if he had opted out when he saw where the path was leading? In his hands he carried all our hopes and dreams. If he had quit then our hopes would have gone up in smoke.

Congratulations again this week to all the children from our parish who will receive Holy Communion for the first time at 11.30 am Mass today.

A special word of thanks to all those involved in the preparation of our children for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Have a good week.

Fr Michael

Hesdin Hall

In our parish kitchen in Hesdin Hall we have very little equipment i.e. dinner plates; side plates; cutlery etc. etc. I would really like to buy about 100 of everything for parish events but it would be rather costly. I wonder if there are any parishioners with links to hotels, restaurants that might be updating equipment and give us or sell cheaply such items in bulk. I would be grateful to hear from you if you think you may be able to help.
