MINUTES OF THE SACRED HEART PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON
TUESDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER 2003


Father Michael opened the meeting with a prayer.
Those present - as per attendance record.
1. Apologies for absence received from Mrs R.King, Mrs S.Mace. ,Mrs S.Caldwell,
Mr S Hemandez Humm, Mrs C.Wloch, Mr J.Ryan, Mrs A.Harrington.


2. Minutes of the meeting held on 15"" July 2003
The minutes were signed by Mr C.Frost as a true record.


3. Matters Arising.
Re:3 /4. Problem finding suitable site for the water heater will be followed up by
Mr C.Frost..
Re:10(i) St Martins Church would prefer a donation for the upkeep of the
cemetery. Mr C.Frost suggested a yearly amount. 200 was agreed.
Re: IO(iv) Mrs A.Harrington has notified Mr P.Moreland of change of key holder.
Re:10(viii) The car park was notclosed on 29" July. Good Friday was suggested
as a good day for closure.


4. Correspondence
Mr C.Frost has written to the BEC Club regarding lack of supervision and damage
done by youngsters to the Chapel. To date no reply has been received.


5. Renew
Fr Michael reminded members of dates.
Parish mission, given by the laity, Thursday 11th and Friday 12th September at
7.30pm and Saturday 13th for families and children at 3pm.
Sunday 14th September enrolment for house groups. Leaflets and forms will be
available on benches and a list of groups will be available.
Diocesan launch will be at Wembley arena beginning at 6pm and Mass at 7pm.
Each parish has been allocated tickets at a cost of 5 each to cover the cost of hire
of arena.


6. Communications.
Mr P.Hague reported that he is waiting for more information from organisations
for the web site..


7. Youth Centre..
The garage, for storage, is almost complete. The electrician will be contacted
regarding lighting.
Scouts and guides helped at the disabled children's holiday which was very
successful. Mr C.Frost commented that new storage place for eqipment was
required for the holiday.


8. Churches Together in Ruislip.- nothing to report


9. Suggestion Book - Nil


10. Any Other Business.
(i) Mr C.Frost has been contacted by a professional choir from Maidenhead who
would like to perform a concert in our church. The proceeds would go to the
church. Fr Michael has tapes of their singing and will use one at our next meeting.
Concert was agreed in pincipal and about June 2004 was suggested.
(ii) Mr L.Board reported that he had attended the RCIA party at London Colney.
Fr Michael added that the RCIA will be starting again in October.
(iii) Mr M.Lemon reported that scouts and guides will be organising the painting
of the hall and outside of the scout hut.
(iv) Mr P.Moreland will be following up the cleaning of the vents to reduce noise
from the smoke extractors.
(v) Mr M.CIark gave information regarding 'Guild of Catholic Artists' which
could be useful for the re-painting of the church noticeboard.
(vi)Mr M.CIark noted that the house next to the Chapel was 'for sale' and
wondered if it would be useful to buy it.
(vii) The SVP have referred to the hole in the roof of the Warrender room. .
(viii) From Fr Michael :-
a) work on the roof is now complete at a cost of £11,000. Waiting for
diocesan inspection before the scaffolding is removed.
b) Planned Giving Drive is planned for three weekends commencing
11th 12th October.
c) Three Advent mission evenings, and Reconciliation as the fourth, will be
given this year by Fr Martin Hayes.
d) Organisations will be contacted regarding a parish carol service.
(ix) Mr M.Lemon noted that the choir had difficulty getting to Holy Communion.
Parishioners will be reminded to wait.
(x) Christmas Bazaar was discussed and will be an item on the agenda for next
meeting. Audrey and Mrs C.Mills will convene a meeting.,

 

The Meeting closed at 8.55 p.m.
